United Removes 7 China / Hong Kong Routes From Future Schedules in 4Q25

Published at 0800GMT 31MAR25

United during the weekend of 28MAR25’s schedule update removed default schedule listing for following 7 routes to China and Hong Kong during Northern winter 2025/26 season, effective 25OCT25.

Since the pandemic in 2020, United lists its future schedules to China on default basis, with highest fare classes available for reservations. These routes will then be removed periodically, approximately 3-4 months prior to the launch of the new season.

Chicago O'Hare – Beijing
Chicago O'Hare – Shanghai Pu Dong
Newark – Beijing Capital
Newark – Hong Kong
Newark – Shanghai Pu Dong
San Francisco – Chengdu
Washington Dulles – Beijing Capital

The latest removal, 6 months prior to the new traffic season begins, comes days after various reports during the week of 24MAR25 claiming the airline plans major service expansion/resumption, despite only bookable in highest fare classes. This misinterpretation occasionally occurred since the pandemic (Hong Kong since 2022).

Separately, prior to latest adjustment, United has been filing Chengdu schedule with airport code CTU (Shuangliu), despite all international service has transferred to Tianfu (TFU).

United continues to operate following routes to China and Hong Kong:
Los Angeles – Beijing Capital (scheduled from 01MAY25)
Los Angeles – Hong Kong
Los Angeles – Shanghai Pu Dong
San Francisco – Beijing Capital
San Francisco – Hong Kong
San Francisco – Shanghai Pu Dong
