AeroRoutes 2024 Top 15 Busiest International Flight Routes Ranking
Published at 1200GMT 26DEC24
This post focuses on the Top 15 Busiest International flight routes of 2024, in terms of total number of seats filed in the OAG, as of 22DEC24. The top 10 of 15 routes are identical to the report published by the OAG earlier this month.
AeroRoutes’ own research through the OAG Schedules Analyser database slightly varies from the OAG’s inhouse report due to the data used in this report is based on the database update on 22/23DEC24, but largely remains identical.
The list below is based on total number of seats filed between 01JAN24 and 31DEC24, although further variations during the period of 15DEC24 – 31DEC24 remain possible.
AeroRoutes’ metric used for this ranking is based on “published schedule”. For instance, although Ethiopian Airlines operates 6 weekly round-trip on Seoul Incheon – Tokyo Narita sector, the carrier can carry local traffic on 4 of 6 weekly flights. The other 2 weekly flights are categorized under “unpublished schedule” in the OAG.
Notable variation impacting this ranking is the configuration filing. For instance, Air Japan (NQ) Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner’s actual configuration is 324 seats, however the schedule filing in the OAG between 31MAR24 and 26OCT24 is showing 250 seats. The airline’s filing on Tokyo Narita – Seoul Incheon (ICN) route is not available for the period of 27OCT24 – 10NOV24, as this period was filed as Tokyo Narita – Yinchuan (INC) route in error.
Note in this list, Kuala Lumpur refers to Kuala Lumpur Sebang (KUL) while Singapore refers to Singapore Changi (SIN).
Note, including AeroRoutes’ predecessor Airlineroute, the writer Jim Liu has the habit of researching and running queries in the OAG database or GDS multiple times, regardless the type of news being announced by the airline or data presented by the company.
